This led to the development of early storage and reproduction systems that were very basic, yet equally groundbreaking given the fact that the early innovators started with a clean slate. The audio manufacturing industry of today benefits from huge advances in the electronics field and a virtual cross pollination of technology from such diverse fields as digital, military and even space technology. Some manufacturers like Valve Audio and a few others try to keep it simple by keeping active signal processing paths as short and uncomplicated as possible, preserving as much of the original signal character and timbre as possible. Others throw the book of technology at it, with the same common goal as the minimalists. To reproduce the original recorded material with as much of the original fidelity as possible.
